The non-profit Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild was founded in 1969 by local artists to promote and encourage the arts in the greater Grand Strand community and Horry County artists alike. Membership is open to all –artists (professional and non-professional) and art lovers alike.
Throughout the years, the WACG has offered free monthly meetings and mini workshops, providing education and fellowship. The Guild’s newsletter updates members about classes, workshops, and opportunities to show and sell art. From sponsoring traveling art trucks to offering scholarships and art materials to students, the group has encouraged younger generations to explore the arts.
The WACG was instrumental in acquiring and establishing the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum. Every spring it holds a prestigious juried show at the museum.
In the fall, a judged show for all members is presented at changing venues. Additionally, the Guild sponsors six (6) Art in the Park events throughout the year. These are held at Myrtle Beach’s Chapin Park and Valor Park at the Market Common.
Now well into its fifth decade, the Guild looks to build upon its storied past as it continues to serve the arts and enrich the lives of all it touches throughout the community.
